Finished Work, New Ideas, News & occasional other (hopefully) interesting stuff!
Do I really need to do events?
It’s that time of year when the summer and next autumn event booking emails start to land in my inbox and if I’m honest, I’m in a bit of a quandary about what to do.
Selling / promoting yourself at “event’s” is just the default “done thing” when it comes to creative small business, especially one in the jewellery industry, but is it really necessary or even the right thing to do for “my” business?
How Much Does A Commission Cost?
I’ve just sent out my second (and last) commissions reminder ready for my list opening again on Friday. You need to be on my mailing list to receive the commissions link, but I included some useful pricing information(correct for February 2025) in the email that I thought I’d also share here for anyone that might be thinking of a future commission.
What if Meta Disappeared? (and some finished jewellery)
I’ve been thinking a lot about my social media accounts recently, and I know I’ve written before about this, but something happened this morning that made me want to just get on and start using my own website, where I’m in control of everything
Are you paying a “fair” price for hand made?
Pricing is probably one of the most difficult parts of any creative business, and I’ve advised many others over the years that we make it more difficult by trying to be our own customer.
Kintsugi
A few moths ago, a client came to my studio with both arms in casts, having suffered an accident on holiday. This was obviously bad enough in itself, but unfortunately her platinum wedding and engagement rings needed to be cut off, and as usual, making a neat job of this wasn’t really the hospital’s priority!
Socials or Blogging?
Trying out something new and trying to link up my blog and social media a bit more…
September Update…
I thought it was about time I wrote something new on my blog as I’ve been a bit quiet on here since July. The summer always seems to be so short, and as I look out onto a very rainy September morning, it really feels like Autumn is starting to settle in...
Thank you (and an announcement)…
I want to say a huge thank you to everyone that visited me, Beca and Sarah during our Open Studio week…
